What a fun day at the Superstition Farm. They are offering $5 days in June so we took advantage of that. It was great. The five dollars included feeding rescue animals including sheep, goats, cows, a horse and a donkey, going on a hay ride tour of the dairy farm and having some ice cream made right on their farm. It was delicious. We topped off the morning by checking out their store, Udder Delights in Gilbert and bought a brownie and a rice krispy treat. It was fun and educational.
We recently took a trip that took us over Glen Canyon Dam. In preparation for the trip, we checked out books from the library about dams and tried to build one of our own at the park.
The first attempt was unsuccessful. After our trip, we took dad to the park. I knew we needed his engineering mind to help us with this one. So, he and the three year old built a dam out of sand, water, and leaves. They mixed it in a big bucket and then poured it into a smaller bucket three times, each time then dumping it out on the slide in a straight row. The rest of the mud, they poured around and over that. Then they filled up the water jug with water from the drinking fountain and made a little lake. It totally worked! It was fun. |
