I used a specific recipe for this, but I am having trouble finding it. The Ziploc bag idea is great for kids to mix colors because it's not messy at all. They can squish it as much as they want to blend the colors. They can choose any combination of colors they want and watch how the colors change as they blend together. (It's a good idea to tape the top with duck tape so nothing leaks out.)

This is a cheap mini-muffin tin bought at Deseret Industries specifically for children's activities like this one. We mixed blue, red, and yellow to make different colors and then painted with them.
