Theme Learning
"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."
~Clay P. Bedford
Theme learning is a wonderful way to help children develop language. When we make one theme a central focus and teach it with books, toys, sensory activities, field trips and in other ways, children will develop an understanding of the content as well as developing their language. As we weave in and out of themes, they will naturally make connections between themes and will begin to independently categorize about what they are learning, a skill necessary for reading, math and science.
